Compacting asphalt and soil is a necessary step in any construction process. Meeting the compaction goals specified in the design brief will ensure the longevity and optimum performance of the construction project, whether it is a major highway, land subdivision or residential/commercial construction site. To meet compaction goals on time and within cost, there are two main compactor families to choose from: light compaction and heavy compaction.
light compaction
Lightweight compaction equipment is typically hand-operated machinery that is designed to be lightweight and flexible for easy transport and operation in areas inaccessible to larger equipment. Lightweight compaction equipment not only needs to be light and flexible, but it must also be safe, easy to use, reliable, and most importantly, provide powerful compaction efficiency in a small package. Lightweight compaction equipment can be used by landscape gardeners, DIY renovators, councils, plumbers, electricians, road builders and maintenance personnel on projects of varying size and complexity. Vibrating tamping rammers, vibrating earth compactors and trench rollers are all lightweight compaction equipment.
Vibratory plate compactor
Vibratory plate compactor can be used as forward or reverse plates. Forward plate compactors are available for granular soil and asphalt applications, depending on the size and options installed. Ideal for repair and maintenance work, they can be used in driveways, trails and parking lots, and they provide excellent compaction performance on thinner layers of material.
